Two more parishes in Sloviansk reregistered under OCU
Authorities in Sloviansk have reregistered two churches under the OCU. Oleksandr Onyshchenko, who initiated the transfers, told Karachun about the change in affiliation and said he had no intention of stopping the reregistration of communities.
Officials reregistered the parish of St. Seraphim of Sarov in the Cherevkivka district and the parish dedicated to the Icon of the Mother of God “Unexpected Joy” in the Molodizhnyi neighborhood on General Batiuk Street. The corresponding entries appeared on the YouControl portal.
“We have been conducting outreach among parishioners since 2023,” Onyshchenko said. “We want to convince people that in the state of Ukraine there should be a Ukrainian Church.”
The organizer of the transfers also pointed to the results of parish reregistrations in the region.
“So we have a result: in 2026, three churches in Donetsk Region transferred to the OCU,” Onyshchenko said. “I’ll say right away: we are not taking a break. We are continuing in this direction. We believe that soon there will be more spiritual centers in Donetsk Region freed from the Muscovites.”
As the UOJ previously reported, with Onyshchenko’s involvement, authorities transferred Sloviansk’s St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral to the OCU.
