UOC hierarchs mark 25th anniversary of monastery in Seltso
Metropolitan Ioann of Kherson and Tavria led the Divine Liturgy at the St. John the Theologian Monastery to mark the anniversary of its founding.
On the feast day of the miraculous “Look Upon the Humble” Icon of the Most Holy Theotokos, UOC hierarchs celebrated a festal hierarchical service at the St. John the Theologian Monastery in the village of Seltso, Zakarpattia region, marking the 25th anniversary of the monastery’s founding, the Mukachevo Eparchy reports.
The Divine Liturgy was led by Metropolitan Ioann of Kherson and Tavria. He was joined in prayer by Metropolitan Theodor of Mukachevo and Uzhhorod, Bishop Veniamin of Skadovsk, Bishop Ilarion of Svaliava, and clergy of the Mukachevo Eparchy.
During the service, the clergy and laity offered fervent prayers for the restoration of peace in Ukraine, an end to the war, and for military personnel.
Following the Liturgy, the clergy and faithful held a cross procession, after which Metropolitan Ioann addressed those gathered with an archpastoral message. He congratulated the monastery’s abbot, Archimandrite Luka (Tomishynets), the brethren, and parishioners on the 25th anniversary of the beginning of monastic life on the holy mountain, as well as on the feast day of the Icon of the Mother of God.
Metropolitan Ioann also congratulated Archpriest Viktor Miso, secretary of the Mukachevo Eparchial Administration, on his name day, wishing him good health and spiritual joy in his ministry to the Church.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that on the eve of the feast of the icon of the Mother of God, about a thousand pilgrims walked in a procession of the cross to the monastery in the village of Seltso.
