Lavra's attorney calls on faithful for support ahead of next court hearing
The hearing in the Upper Lavra case will take place on September 29 at Kyiv’s Northern Commercial Court of Appeal.
On September 29, 2026, at 2:00 p.m., the Northern Commercial Court of Appeal will hold a hearing in the Upper Lavra case. Archpriest Nikita Chekman, attorney for the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, has appealed to the faithful for their prayers and support for the monastery ahead of the proceedings.
The attorney recalled that during the previous hearing, radicals were present in the courtroom and provoked both believers outside the courthouse and the monastery’s legal representatives. In light of this, he specifically asked the faithful to pray for and support the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, its abbot, brotherhood, and legal defense team.
Archpriest Nikita Chekman urged Orthodox Christians to double their prayers for the holy monastery and for a fair and lawful ruling in the case. He also expressed his heartfelt gratitude to everyone for their prayers, concern, and continued support.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that a court had ordered police to open a criminal investigation into pressure exerted by radicals on a UOC attorney.
