Chisinau Airport restricted access due to influx of Hasidic pilgrims
From September 14 to 17, 2026, the administration of Chisinau International Airport restricted access to the terminal due to the mass transit of Hasidic pilgrims. The administration allowed entry into the airport building only for passengers with tickets, staff, and aircraft crew members, reports TV8.
The management approved these measures to handle the increased passenger flow and prevent crowding. Passengers are permitted to enter the terminal no earlier than three hours before departure upon presentation of a travel document and flight confirmation.
"The measures being taken are temporary in nature and are necessary for the safe management of the increased passenger flow and to maintain uninterrupted airport operations," the airport press service stated.
Special rules have also been established for buses carrying groups of Hasidic pilgrims. Drivers are permitted to drive and park exclusively in specially designated areas, with mandatory compliance with approved routes and stopping points. The administration has brought in additional staff to screening areas and adjusted the airport's operating schedule to reduce waiting times.
As the UOJ previously reported, Israeli airports are detaining Hasidic draft evaders on their way to Uman.
