DESS congratulates Ukraine’s Jewish community on Rosh Hashanah
The State Service of Ukraine for Ethnopolitics and Freedom of Conscience (DESS) congratulated the Jewish community of the country on the arrival of the new year according to the Jewish calendar – Rosh Hashanah. The agency published an official congratulation to the Jews of Ukraine on the day of the holiday.
Officials emphasized that the Jewish community has been walking a difficult path during the full-scale military conflict together with the entire country. "A good year is about real and earthly things: that loved ones are nearby, that a child can sleep peacefully at night in their own bed," DESS officials expressed their wishes. "Ukraine is meeting its fifth Rosh Hashanah under the conditions of a great war. And the Jewish community, together with the whole country, is walking this path."
Representatives of the state body expressed gratitude to the Jews for their resilience, joint efforts, and assistance to the defenders of Ukraine. Officials noted the importance of the Jewish community preserving its own identity while simultaneously participating in the common national unity.
"May the new year bring more of what is most needed by every person today: silence instead of anxiety, reunions instead of separations, homecomings instead of exhausting waiting," the agency wished. "We wish the Jewish communities of Ukraine warmth, harmony, and good people by their side."
As the UOJ reported, Yelensky stated that the revival of Judaism in Ukraine is a true miracle.
