Orthodox Youth Congress held in Bucharest
The Orthodox Youth Congress officially opened at the National Cathedral in Bucharest with a service led by Patriarch Daniel of Romania, a UOJ correspondent reports.
The service was attended by the president of Romania and representatives of local authorities. After the service, Patriarch Daniel addressed the congress participants with welcoming remarks, followed by speeches from the Romanian president and local government officials.
According to the organizers, about 2,400 young Orthodox Christians are taking part in the congress. The event is being held at the main cathedral of the Romanian Orthodox Church, which hosts major church-wide and state gatherings.
As previously reported by the UOJ, Patriarchs Bartholomew and Daniel consecrated the world’s largest Orthodox cathedral in Bucharest.
