Monastic tonsure held at Krasnohorsky All Saints Monastery
Metropolitan Theodor of Mukachevo and Uzhhorod tonsured a new monk at a monastery in Zakarpattia. The hierarch performed the rite at the Krasnohorsky All Saints Monastery in Mukachevo, the UOC Information Center reports.
During the rite, monastery novice Vadym Serkhovets took monastic vows. Metropolitan Theodor gave the new monk the name Euthymius in honor of St. Euthymius the Great. Following the tonsure, the hierarch congratulated the monastery’s abbot, Bishop Hilarion, and the brethren on the addition to their monastic family.
The ruling hierarch wished the newly tonsured monk Euthymius steadfast faith, a spirit of prayer, zeal for salvation, and true obedience. The bishop called on the new monk to steadfastly bear the cross of monastic life as a path of sacrificial love for Christ.
At the conclusion, the archpastor invoked God’s blessing upon all those present and called for prayers for the newly tonsured monk. The bishop asked the faithful to pray for Monk Euthymius, so that the Lord might strengthen him on his path of spiritual struggle.
As the UOJ reported, a monastic tonsure was previously held at the Ascension Monastery in Mlyniv.
