Regional authorities discussed security, medical services, and sanitary control measures for Rosh Hashanah.

The Cherkasy Regional Military Administration has begun preparations for the annual Hasidic pilgrimage to Uman. Officials held an expanded meeting to discuss security, public order, and medical services during the pilgrimage.

The Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah, will be celebrated from September 11 to 13 in 2026. Regional Military Administration head Ihor Taburets chaired the meeting on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, coordinating the work of agencies responsible for security, healthcare, transportation, and sanitary measures.

“All services must be ready to operate in an enhanced mode,” Ihor Taburets said. The regional head instructed the relevant agencies to coordinate their key tasks. Volodymyr Papach, chief state sanitary doctor of the Cherkasy region, presented a plan of sanitary measures.

The regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention has stepped up its weekly epidemiological surveillance. Specialists are carrying out disinfection and pest control in Uman. Medical workers have updated response plans for possible outbreaks of infectious diseases and cases of poisoning. Center specialists are also holding joint drills with hospital staff, have created a material and technical reserve, and prepared additional personnel in case the situation worsens.

As the UOJ reported, Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry warned Hasidic pilgrims about the dangers of traveling to Uman.
