Vandals desecrate Mother of God statute in Lviv region
Unknown individuals damaged a statue of the Mother of God on Vicheva Square in Zhovkva.
In the city of Zhovkva, Lviv Region, unknown individuals committed an act of vandalism against a statue of the Mother of God. The perpetrators damaged the figure of the Theotokos, located on the central square.
The Zhovkva Municipal Housing and Utilities Enterprise said this was the first desecration of a shrine of this kind in the city’s history. Residents called on National Police officers to take all necessary measures to identify and find the offenders and to bring the vandals to criminal liability for desecrating the revered image of the Most Pure Virgin.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that unknown individuals attacked a cathedral of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Zagreb.
