Greek Catholic media outlet refers to Crimea as part of Russia
RISU was founded by the Ukrainian Catholic University under the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church.
The RISU platform published an article describing Crimea as part of the Russian Federation. In a headline about Bishop Agafon Kalinovsky – who served in Crimea until the summer of 2025 – the publication stated that he had “fled from Russia to the UOC (MP).”
The article itself added that Bishop Agafon “sold part of his property and left Russia.”
RISU was founded by the Ukrainian Catholic University, which belongs to the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church (UGCC). The site’s editorial policy is known for supporting the campaign against the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
Earlier, UGCC head Sviatoslav Shevchuk claimed that saying the Greek Catholics originated from the Union is “Moscow propaganda.”
