New wayside cross consecrated in Babyn village, Rivne region
The clergy and believers of the UOC in the village of Babyn, Rivne region, have installed a new wayside cross. The village residents have been holding communal prayer at this memorial site for many years.
Previously, through the efforts of the late Archimandrite Michael, the rector of the Church of St. John the Theologian, the believers erected and consecrated a wooden cross at this site. Over the years the wood deteriorated, and the residents found it necessary to replace the old crucifix.
On the initiative of people of goodwill, devout Christians commissioned and erected a new stone cross. The village residents installed it to continue the communal prayer of the Orthodox community. The clergy of the UOC Church of St. John the Theologian consecrated the new shrine and anointed the believers with consecrated oil.
As the UOJ reported, a memorial cross was erected in Romania on the site of a church demolished by the communists.
