The Ecumenical Patriarch consecrated the Church of the Three Hierarchs and an Orthodox center in Budapest.

Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew performed the consecration rite of the Church of the Three Hierarchs and the Orthodox dialogue center «Phanarion» in Budapest. The services took place on September 5, 2026, in the presence of local authorities and hierarchs of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, reports Fos Fanariou.

Following the consecration, Patriarch Bartholomew presided over the Divine Liturgy in the newly consecrated Church of the Three Hierarchs.

The opening of the center coincided with the conclusion of the academic congress of the Society for the Law of the Eastern Churches. Patriarch Bartholomew, thanking the congress participants for their work in studying canon law as a «genuine instrument of Christian unity,» expressed hope that the society would continue to promote «juridical ecumenism.» According to him, the newly opened «Phanarion» center is intended to become «a true crossroads of encounter for Christians of all confessions and all those who sincerely seek God.»

As the UOJ reported, Patriarch Bartholomew stated during the congress that he expects the restoration of full communion with the Roman Catholic Church.
