At today’s hearing, the panel considered applications from citizens and legal questions concerning the participation of third parties in the proceedings. Because of the large number of applications submitted by UOC parishioners, the court was unable to finish reviewing all the documents and adjourned the case.

Believers of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church remained outside the courthouse throughout the day, having come to offer prayerful support to the attorneys. Parishioners read akathists and prayed.

At the same time, a group of aggressive provocateurs gathered outside the courthouse. Radicals led by Davyd Pshenychnyi staged provocations, tried to drown out the prayers with loud music from a speaker and shouted threats at the Metropolis’s defenders and the faithful.

“There were provocations outside the courthouse today, and many people hostile toward the UOC showed up,” attorney Nikita Chekman said, commenting on the situation. “The provocateurs caused scuffles and shouted threats at the attorneys. So I ask everyone to intensify their prayers for the UOC and for the legal team defending the rights of the Kyiv Metropolis.”

As previously reported by the UOJ, around 1,000 more believers submitted applications in defense of the Kyiv Metropolis.
