Donald Trump said Islamic law, or Sharia, has effectively become part of everyday life in London and Paris, calling the situation “ridiculous,” LifeSiteNews reports.
Speaking on Glenn Beck’s radio show on August 26, 2026, the U.S. president said: “On Sharia law, I would absolutely say that’s not this country. There’s no Sharia law. And you do have pockets of it, as you know. I would say no. And you go to London, you go to Paris, it’s almost like a second way of life. It is ridiculous.”
Trump stressed that such a situation was unacceptable in the United States and said he would “absolutely” be prepared to ban Sharia law in the country.
The president added that isolated instances of Sharia could also be found in the United States, although on a limited scale, and said the authorities intended to stamp them out.
"I would absolutely prohibit the Sharia law thing. It is happening in this country a little bit, and where we see it, we take it out, and you have to take it out,” Trump said. “You have one system, we have a great system, sometimes it’s very frustrating but it’s the best there is. That I can say."
Sharia is a comprehensive system of Islamic law governing not only Muslim religious practice but also the organization of society in accordance with the Quran.
As the UOJ reported, a “Sharia-Free America” caucus was established in the U.S. Congress.
