UK Defence Secretary Wes Streeting visited a Greek Catholic parish in London on the 35th anniversary of Ukraine’s independence, the UGCC press service reported.

Streeting, who has served as UK Secretary of State for Defence since July 20, 2026, met with clergy, parishioners, and seminarians, lit a candle as a sign of solidarity with the Ukrainian people, and spoke about the United Kingdom’s continued support for Ukraine.

According to the Greek Catholics, Streeting also recalled the 100-year partnership between Ukraine and the United Kingdom and the declaration on deepening security and defense cooperation signed as part of that partnership.

As the UOJ reported, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valerii Zaluzhnyi previously prayed at the same UGCC cathedral in London on the anniversary of the start of the war.
