Patriarch Theophilos honors EU Ambassador to Israel for support of Christians

His Beatitude Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem received European Union Ambassador to Israel Alexander Stutzmann at his residence and presented the diplomat with a commemorative medal of the Jerusalem Patriarchate, the Patriarchate’s press service reports.

The meeting took place on Thursday, August 21, 2026. Ambassador Stutzmann thanked Patriarch Theophilos III for the trust placed in him and for their fruitful cooperation throughout his years of diplomatic service in Israel.

In response, the Primate of the Church of Jerusalem thanked the diplomat for his support of the Patriarchate and the Christians of the Holy Land. As a token of appreciation, Theophilos III presented the ambassador with a medal minted by the Patriarchate to mark the 2,000th anniversary of Christianity.

As the UOJ reported, Patriarch Theophilos presented Donald Trump with the highest order of the Church of Jerusalem.
