His Beatitude celebrates liturgy on Transfiguration feast

On August 19, 2026, the feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kyiv and All Ukraine celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, the UOC Information and Education Department reports.
The festive service was held at the Church of St Agapitus of the Caves. His Beatitude was concelebrated by Archbishop Mark of Borodianka and the clergy of the monastery.
After the Gospel reading, His Beatitude addressed the faithful with a sermon. During the Liturgy, prayers were offered for peace in Ukraine, help for those affected by the war, the release of captives, the healing of the sick and the strengthening of soldiers.
During the service, the Primate ordained Georgiy Yursha to the diaconate. He will serve at the Church of St Joasaph of Belgorod in Kyiv.
After the Liturgy, His Beatitude Onuphry read the prayers for the blessing of the fruits of the new harvest and sprinkled the faithful with holy water, as well as the grapes and other fruits they had brought.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that His Beatitude explained how to gain spiritual fortitude.
