Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem held a meeting with the US President Donald Trump. The negotiations at the White House lasted about forty minutes, reports Vima Orthodoxias.

The Primate of the Jerusalem Church honored President Trump with the title of "Grand Crusader" of the Order of Crusaders of the Holy Sepulchre. This award is the highest distinction and one of the most significant honors of the Jerusalem Patriarchate.

The focus of the discussion was on the Christian communities of the Middle East, which are being tested in an environment of instability, pressure and threats. Patriarch Theophilos called on the US President to assist in protecting believers and ensuring the right to freedom of worship in the Holy Places.
