Metropolitan Onuphry chairs final meeting of KDAiS Academic Council

The Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kyiv and All Ukraine, held the final meeting of the Academic Council of the Kyiv Theological Schools for the current academic year on June 3, 2026. The hierarch thanked the teaching staff for their fruitful work and presented church awards to employees of the academy and seminary. This was reported by the KDAiS press service.
The Rector of the Kyiv Theological Schools, Archbishop Sylvester of Bilihorodka, presented the work agenda to the council participants and announced the defense of two candidate dissertations. Archbishop Victor Bykov successfully defended his scholarly work on the revival of the tradition of holy chrism preparation in Kyiv, and Hieromonk Ioasaph Mironov presented research on the resolutions of the All-Ukrainian Orthodox Church Council of 1918.
The faculty also approved the results of bachelor's and master's thesis defenses and heard reports from heads of all structural divisions of KDAiS for the 2025/2026 academic year. Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Bishop Panteleimon of Baturyn, announced the dates for the admission campaign, which will take place from August 3 to 6, 2026.
During the meeting, the administration presented a list of students recommended for admission to master's and doctoral programs, and also summarized the educational and disciplinary work for the year. Archbishop Sylvester expressed special gratitude to benefactors and hierarchs who supported the activities of the theological schools under current challenging conditions.
At the concluding stage of the meeting, the Primate of the UOC awarded orders of Saint Nestor the Chronicler and Saints Anthony and Theodosius of the Caves to distinguished academy employees. The awards were received by Archimandrite Leontiy Tupkalo, Archimandrite Meletiy Zavadsky, Archdeacon Nicodym Shevchuk, and lecturer Yevhen Komarov. His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry wished the KDAiS community spiritual vigor and God's help in their continued service to the Church.
As the UOJ reported, Metropolitan Onuphry explained how the image of God manifests in man.
