Foreign Christians repent in Knesset for "failing to support Israel"

A session of the 10th Jerusalem Prayer Breakfast was held in Israel’s Knesset, during which Christian pilgrims from various countries publicly repented before God for the actions of their governments, A News reported.

Participants from Europe, Asia, and the Americas said their nations had “left Israel alone” and asked forgiveness for opposition to the actions of the Israeli authorities.

During the meeting, Sarah Zhu from China prayed that the Lord would teach her compatriots to love and support Israel, while representatives from the United Kingdom, Clive and Jane Urquhart, said: "God, forgive us for turning our backs on Israel, for not defending the Jewish people, and for allowing antisemitism to roam freely in the streets of our country."

A participant from South Korea tearfully asked God’s forgiveness for words spoken by Koreans against Israel. Harald Eckert from Germany also addressed the session, invoking the phrase “never again” in reference to the Holocaust.

The initiative drew sharp criticism on social media, where users called the scene “insane” and a “diplomatic absurdity” that foreign civilian groups with no official diplomatic authority or state mandate were asking forgiveness "on behalf of their countries" under the roof of the Israeli parliament. 

As the UOJ reported, Israeli rabbis criticized the pope for his anti-war statements.
