The head of the OCU Serhiy Dumenko sent a congratulatory message to the newly elected Catholicos-Patriarch Shio III of All Georgia on the occasion of his election and enthronement, reports the official website of the OCU.
In his address, Dumenko praised the Georgian Patriarchate for preserving the national dignity of the people and told Patriarch Shio that "the Church of Christ is called not to serve the spirit of this world but to tirelessly testify to the Gospel of peace, justice and love." Whether he himself acts in accordance with these words, the head of the OCU did not specify.
In conclusion, Dumenko asked for Patriarch Shio's prayers for "a just peace for Ukraine" and assured him of his "brotherly love."
It should be recalled that the Georgian Orthodox Church has not recognized the OCU.
As the UOJ reported, the Georgian Church thanked the UOC delegation for their support during the days of farewell to Patriarch Ilia II.
