On April 11, 2026, the Holy Fire descended at the Church of the Resurrection over the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem. The service was broadcast live by the UOJ.
The ceremony during which the Holy Fire descended was led by Jerusalem Patriarch Theophilos III.
At the beginning of the rite, Patriarch Theophilos, together with clergy and faithful, made a threefold procession around the Edicule. After that, wearing only his cassock, carrying unlit candles, and without any objects that could give rise to suspicions of an earthly source of the Holy Fire, he entered the shrine and offered prayer.
If the Fire descends, we understand that the Lord has given us a chance for repentance and amendment.
