Pope Leo has authorized the use of his image on a special Ukrposhta stamp dedicated to supporting Ukrainian children, the State Service of Ukraine for Ethnopolitics and Freedom of Conscience (DESS) reports.

The presentation and special cancellation ceremony took place at Ukrposhta’s Main Post Office in Kyiv. The stamp features a quote from the Pope: “War will not prevail. And children have the right to a real, just, and lasting peace.”

The head of DESS, Viktor Yelensky, said that the role of the Vatican and the Roman Catholic clergy is “priceless – both before God and for people in Ukraine and beyond.”

Among those attending the ceremony were Major Archbishop Sviatoslav Shevchuk of the UGCC and Apostolic Nuncio to Ukraine Visvaldas Kulbokas.

As the UOJ previously reported, the Cabinet of Ministers extended Yelensky’s term in office.
