On March 13, 2026, Metropolitan Viktor of Khmelnytskyi and Starokostiantyniv performed monastic tonsure at the women's Monastery of the "Life-Giving Spring" Icon of the Mother of God in the village of Zavaliiky, Khmelnytskyi region. This was reported by the press service of the Khmelnytskyi Eparchy on its Facebook page.
During the rite of tonsure, two sisters of the monastery received new names. Nun Joanna was named in honor of the holy myrrh-bearing woman Joanna, and nun Barbara - in honor of the holy great martyr Barbara. The abbess of the monastery, Mother Elizabeth (Vavriichuk), became the spiritual mother for the newly tonsured.
In his instruction after performing the rite, Bishop Viktor congratulated nuns Joanna and Barbara on receiving the angelic schema. The archpastor wished the sisters God's help in bearing their spiritual struggle and called them to zealous spiritual growth on their chosen path of service to Christ.
Earlier, the UOJ wrote that new nuns were tonsured at Molchensky Monastery of the Konotop Eparchy.
