TRC employees detain priest of Chernivtsi Eparchy

Employees of the Territorial Recruitment Center detained a cleric of the Chernivtsi-Bukovyna Eparchy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church — Archpriest Oleh Ostafiuk, as reported on January 26, 2026, by believers on Facebook.
The priest, who serves as rector of the Holy Great Martyr George parish in the village of Nyzhni Synivtsi, as well as the parish of the Exaltation of the Cross of the Lord in the village of Verkhni Synivtsi of the Hlyboka Deanery, was stopped at a checkpoint and then taken to the TRC.
Believers are asked to intensify prayers for the detained clergyman, and also to continue praying for Archpriest Fedir Hnitetsky, who remains at the recruitment center.
As the UOJ reported, on January 7, drafters detained a cleric of the Chernivtsi-Bukovyna Eparchy of the UOC — Archpriest Mykola Syniuk.
