Lavra Reserve marks centenary of Bolshevik seizure of the monastery

A centennial anniversary was celebrated at the National Reserve “Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra” – the Bolshevik seizure of the monastery and its transformation into a “Museum Town”.
The reserve’s press service text states that “a conference dedicated to the 100th anniversary of recognizing the Lavra’s territory as a state historical and cultural preserve showed that the humanities today are an important instrument for protecting national interests.” The statement does not explain what Ukraine’s national interests have to do with the crimes of the totalitarian Soviet regime.
It is claimed that special attention was given to reconstructing museum expositions of the Soviet All-Ukrainian Museum Town of the 1920s–1930s.
As a reminder, the “Museum Town” arose on the territory of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra after the Bolsheviks expelled the monks from the monastery. Some of them were shot.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that the Lavra Reserve and the OCU signed a memorandum on preserving the caves and relics.
