On December 7, 2025, Metropolitan Longin of Bancheny announced that representatives of the Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Center had detained his adopted son, Zhar Zoria Mykhailovych, the previous day. The archbishop’s message was published on the Facebook page of the Bancheny Monastery.

According to the metropolitan, the detained man is an orphan and has children in his care. He stressed that if he remains in custody, the children will be left without a father. “Please, help free my son,” Metropolitan Longin wrote.

He also recalled that he has already lost two sons. “I buried two of my children and did not receive a single penny of assistance from the state,” he noted.

The metropolitan added that he is raising four children with war-related disabilities and is undergoing medical treatment himself. He emphasized that he intends to seek his son’s release by all available means.

Earlier, the UOJ reported that hundreds of believers came to Bancheny to congratulate Metropolitan Longin on his name day.
