In Georgia, cross procession to commemorate St. Gabriel (Urgebadze) held

On November 1, 2025, a procession took place in Mtskheta dedicated to the memory day of St. Gabriel (Urgebadze), the confessor and fool-for-Christ, reports UOJ in Georgia. Pilgrims walked from the house of Saint Father Gabriel to the Samtavro Monastery, where a prayer service with an akathist was held.
The clergy, the spiritual daughter of St. Gabriel, Mother Paraskeva, as well as believers from Georgia, Ukraine, and other countries participated in the procession. The paraklesis at the Samtavro Monastery was conducted by Father Michael Vachnadze, after which the pilgrims venerated the grave of St. Gabriel and sought his prayers and blessings.
The Union of Orthodox Journalists of Georgia broadcast the procession live. The event was imbued with a spirit of unity and love, based on the example of St. Gabriel's life – a call to overcome hatred with love.
St. Gabriel (Urgebadze) is one of the most revered Georgian saints of the 20th century, canonized in 2012. His feat of foolishness and confession during the Soviet persecutions serves as an example of Christian love and fidelity to Christ.
