Usyk finances restoration of Shukhevych Museum

On October 4, 2025, Ukrainian boxer and Orthodox Christian Oleksandr Usyk participated in the restoration of the Roman Shukhevych Museum in Lviv, which was damaged by shelling in January 2024, reported the city's mayor Roman Sadovyi.
The world champion donated his boxing gloves for a charity auction and made a donation of 100,000 hryvnias. In a video message, he also urged Ukrainians to join in the restoration. "We pay tribute to the past so that our future is bright. Glory to God and glory to Ukraine," Usyk stated.
It's worth recalling that Roman Shukhevych played an ambiguous role in Ukrainian history. In Ukraine, he is honored as a commander of the UPA. At the same time, Shukhevych collaborated with the Nazis. In particular, he held the rank of Hauptmann (captain) and served as the Ukrainian deputy commander of the "Nachtigall" battalion. Later, he held the position of deputy commander in Schutzmannschaft Battalion 201.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that Usyk commented on his photo with a invader of the Cherkasy cathedral.
