Constantinople bishop: Decision on OCU was correct but no one expects miracles

Metropolitan Emmanuel of Chalcedon of the Ecumenical Patriarchate said in an interview with Ta Nea that the Ecumenical Patriarchate did everything correctly in Ukraine.
"I believe that the decision of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in 2019 after the unification council of Kiev in 2018, to grant autocephaly to the Church of Ukraine, was a correct decision," stated the Metropolitan. "As the Mother Church, the Patriarchate acted correctly and we truly believe that we were vindicated." At the same time, he urged not to expect too much from the OCU, as there is a war in Ukraine.
"Now, if indeed in this context one would expect miracles to happen in these few years, I have to observe that things do not happen that way. It takes time, maturity and patience. Within a country that has been living, in recent years, at war after the Russian invasion, it is difficult to take actions that would help complete this work," emphasized the hierarch of Constantinople.
Earlier, the UOJ wrote that, according to Patriarch Bartholomew, he will not revoke the Tomos of the OCU.
