In Kyiv Theological Schools, monastic tonsure performed

On August 22, 2025, the rector of the Kyiv Theological Academy and Seminary, Archbishop Sylvester of Bilohorodka, performed the monastic tonsure of KDA employee Oleh Dubrovka at the Academic Church of St. John of Damascus of the Pokrovsky Monastery in Holosiiv. This was reported by the KDAiS website.

In the tonsure, Oleg Dubrovka received the name Nektary in honor of St. Nektarios of Aegina.

The spiritual mentor of the newly tonsured monk Nektary is Archimandrite Pimen (Kharaim), the head of the skete of the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra.

After the tonsure, Archbishop Sylvester spoke about the importance of monastic tonsure and gave spiritual advice to the newly tonsured monk.

Present at the monastic tonsure were the Chairman of the Educational Committee under the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Clement of Nizhyn and Pryluky, Vice-Rector for Educational Work, Archbishop Ambrose of Zghurivka, Vice-Rector for Academic and Methodological Work, Bishop Panteleimon of Baturyn, Head of the Postgraduate Department of KDA, Bishop Philaret of Baryshivka, administration members, teachers, and students of the Kyiv Theological Schools.

As reported by the UOJ, on August 20, the vicar of the Khust Eparchy of the UOC, Bishop Mark of Rakhiv, performed the rite of monastic tonsure at the St. George's Monastery in the village of Kryva in Transcarpathia.
