Archbishop Georgios of Cyprus stated that he expects the decision of the Ecumenical Patriarchate on the appeal of former Metropolitan Tychikos of Paphos by the end of September this year, reports UOJ in Greece.

The relevant statements were made by the Primate of the Church of Cyprus on August 15, 2025, at the Trooditissa Monastery on the Feast of the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos.

He emphasized that he does not wish to anticipate the decisions of the Constantinople Patriarchate. At the same time, the archbishop expressed confidence that the Ecumenical Patriarchate will support the decision of the Synod of the Church of Cyprus to remove Metropolitan Tychikos from the Paphos See.

Earlier, UOJ reported that the Archbishop of Cyprus is blackmailing Patriarch Bartholomew with the commemoration of Metropolitan Onuphry.
