How to find time for prayer in everyday hustle?

When we love someone, we always find time for a heartfelt conversation with them, despite our busyness or long distances, if not in person, then by phone or online. If there is no love, people, even living next to each other or working together, may seem to ignore those around them, not speaking for years.

The same happens in communication with God. If we truly love Him, we will always find time for a conversation with Him. We will even strive for such conversations to happen as often as possible and last as long as possible. Those who do not love God perceive prayer as a burdensome duty, finding it difficult to make time for it and to properly attune themselves to it.

This partly happens because many do not understand what prayer is and to Whom they are addressing. Some think that prayer is a kind of self-training, as explained by guides in the museum of atheism during Soviet times, rather than a conversation with God. Some people's reluctance to pray stems from a wrong perception of God. Some think of God not as a loving Father or even a Friend, Brother, but only as a stern Judge, and therefore do not strive for frequent communication with Him.

Constant busyness at work or fatigue after work, the desire to rest — these are always significant reasons for many of us not to pray or to devote minimal time to prayer.

But even with the greatest busyness, with the hardest work, one can pray without any detriment to the task at hand. On the contrary, prayer helps to accomplish everything in the best way. For a person who knows how to and loves to pray, no controllers are needed in his work, as the best controller is his conscience, which he constantly works on to keep it pure in any matter. A praying person hardly needs hints from superiors, as his Superior is God Himself, Who will always guide, support, and help.

To love God, to have a constant desire to pray despite busyness and fatigue, one must not be lazy in cleansing their soul and body through repentance (struggle with passions). It is especially important to fight the passion of anger. God does not hear the prayer of an angry person. And the angry person himself cannot attune to prayer until he asks forgiveness from the one he was angry with. As we see today, especially much anger arises during war. But the Lord grants peace through the prayer of those who conquer not others, but their anger and other evil passions.
