In Chișinău, police disperse Orthodox protesters opposing gay pride parade

On June 15, 2025, Moldovan police forcefully dispersed a group of several hundred Orthodox Christians who were protesting a gay pride parade marching through the streets of Chișinău.
Footage published by noi.md shows law enforcement officers throwing to the ground a man wearing a cassock and sporting a beard – presumably a clergyman.
Other videos depict police shoving people carrying icons and church banners. During the clashes, a teenager and a man with a young boy were reportedly injured.
According to local reports, the Orthodox protesters were chanting “Moldova is Orthodox” and shouting “Shame!” at the police officers.
Journalists note that LGBT marchers entered Bucharest Street, which had not been authorized for the parade. Police ordered them to return to the approved route, but the marchers refused and declared they would continue.
After the Orthodox group was dispersed, the gay pride parade resumed its procession.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that a similar pride march was held in Kyiv on the eve of All Saints’ Day.
