On May 9, 2025, following the evening service on the eve of the feast day of St. Amphilochius, the brotherhood of the Pochaiv Lavra, along with the residents of Pochaiv and pilgrims, solemnly transferred the saint's relics from the Cave Church of St. Job to the Transfiguration Cathedral of the monastery, reports the Pochaiv Leaflet Telegram channel.
The festive cross procession took place after the evening service in the Dormition Cathedral of the monastery, with hundreds of believers participating.
On May 11, the Pochaiv Lavra will hold a festive All-Night Vigil with the reading of the Akathist to St. Amphilochius. During the reading of the canon at Matins, all the faithful will have the opportunity to venerate the holy relics.
On May 12, the day of the saint's canonization, after the late Liturgy in the Transfiguration Cathedral, the relics of the venerable saint will be solemnly carried in a cross procession back to their permanent resting place in the Cave Church.
St. Amphilochius was born on November 27, 1894, in the village of Mala Ilovytsia, Ternopil region. As a novice at the Pochaiv Lavra, he treated the sick and became especially renowned as a bonesetter. He healed people without demanding any payment, asking only for gratitude to God. Numerous testimonies attest to the miracles he performed.
The saint continued to heal even after his death. Shortly before his repose, the elder instructed people to come to his grave with their needs and ailments, promising not to abandon those who sought his prayerful assistance.
St. Amphilochius reposed on January 1, 1971, and was buried on January 4. By the decision of the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, he was canonized as St. Amphilochius of Pochaiv on May 12, 2002.
