Zelensky expects the new Pope to continue supporting Ukraine
Volodymyr Zelensky congratulated the newly elected Pope Leo XIV and expressed hope that under his pontificate, the Vatican will continue to support Ukraine and condemn Russia.
"Ukraine highly values the consistent position of the Holy See on upholding international law, condemning the military aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, and protecting the rights of innocent citizens."
"In this crucial moment for our country, we hope for continued moral and spiritual support from the Vatican for Ukraine's efforts aimed at restoring justice and achieving lasting peace," Zelensky stated, wishing the new pope "wisdom and inspiration".
Earlier, the UOJ reported that the name of the new pope had been announced.
