Volodymyr Zelensky called his meeting with Donald Trump at the Pope Francis's funeral "symbolic".

"We managed to discuss a lot one-on-one. We hope for results on all the issues raised. The protection of our people's lives. A complete and unconditional ceasefire. A reliable and lasting peace that will safeguard against the recurrence of war. A very symbolic meeting that has the potential to become historic if we achieve common results," Zelensky wrote, thanking Trump.

The President did not specify what particular symbolism he meant during the meeting on the day of the farewell ceremony for the pontiff.

Earlier, the UOJ reported that Trump met with Zelensky in the Vatican before the funeral rites of Pope Francis.
