April 7, 2025 – A charity fair was held in the courtyard of the Transfiguration Cathedral in Sumy as part of the initiative “A Bright Day – Bright Deeds,” according to the website of the Sumy Eparchy.
The proceeds from the fair will be directed toward helping children undergoing treatment in the oncology department of the Sumy Regional Children's Clinical Hospital.
The fair opened following the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy on the Feast of the Annunciation of the Most Holy Theotokos. His Eminence Metropolitan Yevlohii of Sumy and Okhtyrka took part in the event and gave his blessing to the efforts of the organizers – the Sumy Sisterhood of Mercy at the cathedral.
The charity fair raised 16,100 hryvnias. This amount will be added to the total donations collected at the cathedral as part of the “A Bright Day – Bright Deeds” campaign in support of children with cancer in the Sumy region.
A similar fair is planned for Palm Sunday, April 13.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that the Sumy Eparchy of the UOC shared how it is helping evacuate residents from dangerous areas.
